I lived in the City and environs from 1965 to 1997, and present myself, my friends, and acquaintances as prime specimens. I wrote for the underground press in the Sixties, published irregularly in the mainstream press in the Seventies, and in the Eighties, had a book published by Doubleday on American cartoonists. I am now an English teacher in a public high school infested with right wing activists, hence the pseudonym. If that seems over cautious, read the stories.
There are almost certainly minor historical inaccuracies here. I made some efforts to correct a few. Historical accuracy, however, has been admirably provided by books such as The Haight Ashbury: A History by Charles Perry, Beneath the Diamond Sky by Barney Hoskins, and Hippie by Barry Miles, among others.
My purpose, before all else, is to tell a good story. I also want to trace history through representative lives and locate the origins of historical change in the psychology of individuals.
There will be about two stories added per year.
Thanks to Richard Foldenauer, an old close friend and the designer of this website. And special thanks to the love of my life, my wife Nancy.
